Research Mobility in Finland Strengthened International Cooperation within the DEZINFO Project

In June and early July, Assoc. Prof. Mgr. Kateřina Mikulcová, Ph.D., from the University of Ostrava undertook a four-week research mobility at the University of Eastern Finland in Kuopio. The mobility aimed to strengthen international cooperation within the DEZINFO project, provide an opportunity to consult leading international experts on planned research into disinformation, and establish partnerships for future joint research activities.

During her stay, Dr Mikulcová met with experts from the University of Eastern Finland and other Finnish institutions. The programme also included consultations with researchers involved in the ENDGAME project, funded by the Horizon Europe programme and focused on media literacy and countering disinformation.An important part of the mobility was a placement at Faktabaari, one of Europe’s leading organisations in the fields of fact-checking, media literacy, and strengthening societal resilience to disinformation. The experience provided valuable insights into current approaches to fact-checking and media literacy, as well as practical strategies for addressing the challenges posed by disinformation.

The research mobility brought new methodological perspectives to the DEZINFO project, further expanded its international network of partners, and opened up new opportunities for participation in future European research initiatives and the development of joint scientific publications.
