The Project Members Attended the Conference of the Association of Germanists of the Czech Republic in Ústí nad Labem

Assoc. Prof. Martin Mostýn and Dr. Milan Pišl participated in an international scientific conference of the Association of Germanists of the Czech Republic called (KREUZ)WEGE DER GERMANISTIK (The Intersections of German Studies), held from May 27 to May 30, 2026, which was hosted this year by Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. This was an outstanding professional forum in the field of German Studies within the Central European region, focusing on current research trends in German linguistics, literature, and teaching German as a foreign language.

Assoc. Prof. Mostýn presented a paper entitled "Diskursive Strategien und Topoi in der Berichterstattung von Desinformationsmedien zum Thema Klimawandel – eine deutsch-tschechische Perspektive" (Discursive Strategies and Topoi in the Reporting of Disinformation Media on Climate Change from a Czech-German Perspective). His presentation dealt with recent research findings in the interlingual comparison of discursive strategies and argumentative structures in disinformation media texts, based on an analysis of the multilingual corpus CLIC24 (Climate Change Multilingual Media Corpus 2024).

Conclusions drawn from this corpus in the context of social media were presented by Dr. Pišl in his contribution "Die Sprache der Polarisierung und Manipulation: Linguistische und distributive Strategien wirtschaftlicher Desinformationen auf Facebook" (The Language of Polarization and Manipulation: Linguistic and Distributional Strategies of Economic Disinformation on Facebook). He explored algorithms and typical linguistic features of posts with high disinformation potential occurring on Facebook and associated web portals. He examined not only the linguistic devices that polarize both the creators of economic disinformation and, through interaction, the social media users exposed to manipulative techniques, but also the argumentative strategies and strong emotional framing of selected posts.

Participation in the conference was subsidized by the project called "Biography of Fake News with a Touch of AI: Dangerous Phenomenon through the Prism of Modern Human Sciences" (CZ.02.01.01/00/23_025/0008724).
